Description: A field course in the methods of conservation biology which will explore the theoretical and practical approaches to conservation biology in the local community. A key component of the course will be to examine how biological and socio-political factors are intertwined in all conservation efforts and to consider the roles of all levels of participants in conservation efforts.
Prerequisites: BIOL 203, 204, 205, and 206, OR BIOL 220, 221, 222 or 270, and 223 or 271; BIOL 300; BIOL 551; CHEM 105 and 108; MATH 101, 150, or 151 or any MATH course with a MATH 150 or 151 prereq; students must have a minimum grade of C- in all of the listed BIOL courses taken and in CHEM 105 and 108 OR Graduate Status.
Corequisite: BIOL 551, if not already completed.
