Description: This course explores China¿s foreign relations and foreign policy from the mid-19th to the 21st centuries, with particular focus on the conflicts among different notions of world order. Themes include nationalism and internationalism, the Unequal Treaties from the mid-19th century to 1949, Mao Zedong¿s foreign policy, and China¿s rise in the late 20th century.
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or permission of instructor.
