Description: This course will explore the concepts of identity, ethnicity, and nationalism from a comparative perspective. We will examine how identity is defined and formed and how societies use these constructions for nation-building, welfare distribution, voting, elections, and economic development, among other things, by drawing upon theories from political science, anthropology, sociology, and economics.
Prerequisite: PLSC 205 or 207, Graduate status, or permission of instructor.
