Description: This course is highly recommended for students in legal studies, pre-law, and those interested in public policy issues. We relate traditional themes of legal philosophy to the live concerns of modern society, covering selections that raise the most important issues for life in a democratic society governed by the rule of law. These issues represent core themes and ideals central to America with topics such as legal legitimacy, limits of individual liberty, justice, property, responsibility, and punishment.
