FINC 519 - Security Analysis and Portfolio Management (3).
Description: The objective of this course is to provide students with real-world experience in security analysis and portfolio management and prepare students for the Securities Industry Essential Exam (SIE). Students will collectively be responsible for the investment decisions of the fund, the overall portfolio composition, and the utilization of numerous financial models used to assess sector, industry and individual security strength/weakness in their decision-making. Each student will be required to perform the necessary quantitative and qualitative work using Morningstar Direct and the Bloomberg terminal. Students will be required to demonstrate knowledge of financial products, risks, the structure and regulation of the financial industry by taking the SIE examination. Prerequisite: Students must have completed or concurrently enrolled in FINC512 or with permission of the instructor or financial planning program director. Notes: Offered in fall, spring, and summer.
