SCST 590 - Principles of Teaching Social Studies I (3).
Description: Exploration and application of strategies related to planning, instruction, content reading, and content literacy in the social studies classroom. Emphasis will be placed on applying knowledge from content courses to design lessons associated with state and national standards. Special attention will be placed on content from the areas of Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, and Government. Field experience outside of class time in a K-12 setting required. Prerequisites: Graduate standing in MAT program Notes: Specifically designed for MAT students seeking secondary certification in Social Studies.
