SCST 390 - Principles of Teaching Social Studies I (3:1:3). |
Description: Exploration and application of strategies related to planning, instruction, content reading, and content literacy in the social studies classroom. Emphasis will be placed on applying knowledge from content courses to design lessons associated with state and national standards. Special attention will be placed on content from the areas of Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, and Government. Field experience outside of class time in a K-12 setting required.
Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program; at least junior standing; major in SCST education or minor in Educational Studies.
