ECED 391 - Teaching Social Studies in Early Childhood Education (3). |
Description: A study of methods and materials in the teaching of early childhood social studies and a review of relevant research. Students will learn how to overcome cultural bias in a child care or classroom setting by including music, artwork, and a variety of culturally defined materials into the curricula. Students will apply the principles of planning, instruction, management, evaluation, and professionalism in a variety of field placements in which young children are served.
Notes: Teacher Education students must receive a grade of C or better and may not elect the S/U option. Offered in fall.
Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education Program, ECED 333.
Corequisites: EDUC 390 & ECED 392.
